Every Spring that I have lived in the Rogue Valley, I have been enchanted by the wild transformation from the brown landscape to the fleeting green hills and waves of blossoms. This is my favorite time of year to take photos and I credit spring for the deep inspiration I feel to create at this time.
I fall in love every spring, and I can't think of any feeling that is more wonderful than falling in love. I fall in love with the place where I live and with the plants that emerge from the earth, reminding us of the cycles of death and life. I fall in love with the rain, as rare as it is anymore, that frizzes my hair and humidifies the air making the atmosphere slightly tropical if only for a short time. I fall in love with the sense of wild abundance and expansion.
It's not lost on me that I feel the effortless inspiration to create beautiful, lasting photos is not only because of the fleeting nature of the lush beauty of spring, but also the passing of time itself. My own daughter Nadia, is now 17, and I only have another school year with her before she flies the nest, so I am photographing her and trying to capture the memories of family life while I can! And so too, after 2 years of strange isolation from our loved ones whose memories can be cherished in lasting photos. I have scouted for beautiful locations around Ashland to create photos that blend people with nature!
I can certainly take a portrait in a backyard or a park, but in the spirit of my new (as of last fall) offering of wall art, I try to envision what a large, printed photograph would look like on a wall that has a family in it and of course the element of nature as the setting!
The above large wall art (of my daughter Nadia) is a 30 X 45 inch metal print, which is my favorite format, that takes on a life-like depth and dimension. Images are printed on high-quality aluminum using an innovative dye sublimation process for an impressive display. I also offer canvas wraps and framed wall art, all of which stand the test of time and come ready to display.
As I explore the local outdoor wonders of nature, I always envision what photos I could create there, and in what places of beauty I can invite my clients to be photographed. So here are just a few locations, with flowers and green grasses, just waiting for the right person or people to say "yes, take me to your special location!" And I will photograph you and yours!
Because I can't get enough of the lush green, you might find me face down in the green plants, inhaling the pungent fragrant soil, and plants and savoring the buzz of the insects!
And as I reflect on all my blessings, I would be remiss if I did not mention my expanded family that has brought a sweet man into my life just over a year ago: DJ, and a sweet girl, his daughter Malia. Together we enjoy spring skiing, gardening, and collecting flowers. The 4 of us plan to go to Switzerland for my Swiss family reunion and to Italy to hike the Dolomite mountains this summer when it is hot and dry and likely smokey here.
